To Complete an IFC Transformation

Select

(Convert IFC to COBie ) from the backstage.

TheCovert IFC to COBies dialog opens.

Click the IFC File browse button, and navigate to a directory to select the source file(s). The COBie File field is filled for XLS file derivative being created in the same path. You may browse the COBie File if required to alter the path or file name.

Select the Template to format the conversion using one of the template options:

COBie-US-2_4-template.xls, or
COBie-UK-2012-template.xls

Check the Skip geometry to ignore the geometry of the IFC in source.

Select the IFC classes to be excluded, by clicking Exclude IFC classes and checking those in the list provided in Exclude IFC Classes dialog.

Click Convert to start the transform process. The conversion process flashes the status in Converting message box, and when complete turns the message box Conversion finished and opens the COBie spreadsheet (in Microsoft Excel) after its creation.

Note: During conversion, the source file header is checked as follows:

/* description */: If the header does not include FMHandOverView, the warning message

is displayed.
/* originating system */: If the file was not created by OpenBuildings Designer, the warning message File not created by OpenBuildings Designer, COBie spreadsheet may not be correct is displayed.
